Choose among Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief using attack style, supply planning and second-job goals rather than an unsupported tier ranking.
Which first job fits your play style?
| If you prefer… | Start with | A decision to make |
|---|---|---|
| Melee and grouped enemies | Warrior | Single-target versus group attacks |
| Spells and defensive resource choices | Magician | Main attack and protection plan |
| Ranged weapons and firing space | Bowman | Bow versus crossbow destination |
| Throwing weapons or daggers | Thief | Ranged versus no-reset dagger route |
These are navigation choices, not measured damage results. The best class for a friend’s equipment and party can be a poor fit for the routine you want to repeat.
Choose a routine you can afford
Before selecting a class for a claimed leveling advantage, include its supplies and travel in the comparison. Keep the same time window. A build that wins one short fight can lose over a longer session when recovery interrupts it.
Read the AP/SP example before committing
Read the level-30 branch choices as well as the level-10 starting theme. An endpoint is not an instruction to buy a reset later; choose a plan whose tradeoffs you accept before spending.
A practical decision checklist
Choose a preferred combat style, inspect the matching first-job build, and name the level-30 branch you are considering. Then try an ordinary session and review what felt awkward: range, movement, ammunition, recovery or party dependence. Change the decision when that evidence changes.
Good questions, quick answers.
Which class has the highest DPS?
This site has not measured class DPS under matched conditions, so it does not publish a numerical winner.
Should a new player follow a tier list?
Use a ranking only when its version, equipment, target and assumptions match your situation. Start with the combat routine and branch you want.
Where do I find AP and SP examples?
Open one of the four first-job build guides linked above; each separates advancement rules from community build examples.
